What is Artificial Intelligence?

The capacity of a digital computer or computer-controlled robot to do tasks that are normally associated  with intelligent beings. The phrase is widely used to refer to a project aimed at creating systems that have human like cognitive abilities such as the ability to reason,  discern meaning, generalize, and learn from previous experiences(Copeland, 2022).

Advantages of AI

  • AI reduces the amount of time to complete the task. It allows for multitasking and reduces the demand on current resources.
  • AI allows previously complicated activities to be completed without significant financial investment.
  • AI is available for 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with no pauses or downtime.
  • AI improves the talents of people with varying abilities.
  • AI aids decision-making by making the process faster and more intelligent(HCL Technologies, 2022).


Types of AI:

Reactive Machines
These are the earliest AI systems, and their capabilities are extremely limited. They stimulate the ability of the human mind to respond to various stimuli. Memory-based functionality is not available on these devices. As a result, such computers are unable to use earlier experiences to guide their current actions.

Limited Memory
Limited memory machines are machines that have the characteristics of fully reactive machines and  also can learn from historical data to make judgements . Almost, all present AI applications that we are aware of fall into this category.

Theory of Mind
Researchers are now working on developing Theory of Mind AI which is the next level of AI systems. A theory of mind AI will be able to discern the wants, emotions, beliefs, and mental processes of the beings with which it interacts.

Self-aware
This is the last level of AI development and it only exist in theory at the moment. Self aware AI is the AI that can progress to the point where it is similar to human brain that it gains self-awareness. The ultimate goal of all AI research is and will always be to develop this form of AI.

  My name is Fizu Rijal. I belong from the beautiful country Nepal which is blessed by the gorgeous mountains of Himalayas and the extensive vegetation and foliage of Terai and Hilly regions.
